Cho Oyu is a great introduction to 8000m climbing. It is low angle,
non-technical and with comparatively low objective hazards. This means
that time can be spent experiencing climbing at high altitude without
added stress. That doesn't make it easy, but it leaves a margin for the
less experienced.
If you are thinking about Everest, Cho Oyu is a great high altitude
introduction. It is much cheaper both in time and money and yet has
many of the challenges. A place to assess your aptitude for alititude.
And even if you are not thinking about Everest, it is a great trip -
Tibet is a very special place, and so is being up there at 8000 metres.
