
International Climbing Expeditions (formerly Himalayan
Guides) was started in 1989 to give climbers who wanted to mountaineer in the
Greater Ranges a chance to join expeditions and at a reasonable cost.
At that time there were few expeditions to Himalayan peaks open to mountaineers
from outside the exclusive groups of 'international mountaineers' who dominated
expedition climbing. These groups predominantly climbed new routes or made
first ascents.
The chances of most mountaineers being invited to join a Himalayan expedition
were remote. To organise one oneself was a formidable task often taking years
to arrange.
International Climbing Expeditions (as Himalayan Guides) set out to change this
and to make access to high altitude expeditioning available, by assuming the
beaurocratic and logistical responsibilities required to organise and run these
expeditions successfully.
To date we have been involved in:

- 39 of which have had members on the summit.
